About Time

All my life, I have wanted to stop time. I see almost no value in the future, and I suspect that virtually every technological advance since the advent of the gramophone has been -- on balance -- detrimental to the human race...

Somehow, the future always seems like something that is going to happen rather than something that is happening.

The future, by definition, does not exist. It is always just an idea, a proposal, a scenario.

The clock represents an element of mechanical tyranny in the lives of modern men more potent than any individual exploiter or any other machine.
